Davka vs Medisafe: which one fits

Davka is an iPhone and Android app for logging supplements and vitamins by part of the day, plus water and caffeine, with widgets and PDF reports. Medisafe is a medication manager with family features and, per its US App Store description, drug interaction warnings, while Davka is a simple record of supplements, water and caffeine with no account.

This page is written by Davka’s developer. Facts about Medisafe come from its App Store pages and help center and were checked on 28 October 2026. Prices change, so check the store before you buy.

What Medisafe does well

Medisafe manages medications, pills, refills and doctor appointments. Its US App Store description lists drug-to-drug interaction warnings (marked “Now in the U.S.”) and a family function that syncs the family’s pillboxes in one place. It has about 102 thousand ratings averaging 4.7 in the US App Store and supports 16 languages.

What changed with Medisafe’s price

Medisafe’s help center says that from 1 January 2026 it is a fully paid app for users outside the US: $4.99 a month or $39.99 a year. After download there are 14 days to try it, then the app locks. Medisafe says it will not sign you up for a subscription on its own.

In the US App Store it is still listed as free with in-app purchases: monthly upgrades from $2.99 to $9.99 and yearly plans from $27.99 to $39.99 (several tiers; the listing does not say which applies to whom).

Its App Store privacy label lists an email address and a user ID among the data collected for app functionality.

How Davka does it

Davka has no account and no ads. The first 7 days are free with no card. After that you choose: a subscription ($1.99 a month or $19.99 a year), or one single payment of $39.99 for a lifetime license. A subscription is not required: the lifetime license is one single payment.

You sort supplements into morning, afternoon and evening and log a whole part of the day with one tap. Water has a daily goal, caffeine has an estimated caffeine curve, and you can export a PDF report for a month, quarter or year, or your full history as CSV. It runs on iPhone, iPad and Android in 20 languages. In the App Store privacy section the developer states that no data is collected (Apple does not verify this).

You name a custom item yourself, put it in a part of the day and set the days of the week; the reminders for that part of the day cover it like any catalog supplement, so Davka can log things that are not in the catalog, such as a pre-workout.

From the developer

I built the app because I was looking for something that would make logging supplements easier. Logging them in Apple Health felt impractical to me, so I made Davka, where I log a whole part of the day with one tap.

Where Davka is weaker

Today it has no interaction checks and cannot share records with other people. It does not scan labels. Davka gives no advice on what or how much to take; it is a record, not an advisor.

FAQ

Is Medisafe still free?

Medisafe says that from 1 January 2026 users outside the US need a paid subscription ($4.99 a month or $39.99 a year) after a 14-day trial. In the US App Store it is listed as free with in-app purchases.

Does Davka replace Medisafe?

Only if you want a simple record of supplements, water and caffeine. Interaction warnings and family functions are what Medisafe offers today and Davka does not.

Can I log something that is not in the Davka catalog?

You name a custom item yourself, put it in a part of the day and set the days of the week; the reminders for that part of the day cover it like any catalog supplement, so Davka can log things that are not in the catalog, such as a pre-workout. Today it has no interaction checks and cannot share records with other people.

Does Davka need a subscription?

A subscription is not required: the lifetime license is one single payment. After the 7-day free trial you can subscribe or pay once for a lifetime license ($39.99 in the US).

Does Davka work without an account?

Yes. It asks for no registration or sign-in, and has no ads or analytics.

Which parts of the day does Davka use?

Morning (until 11:59), afternoon (12:00 to 17:59) and evening (from 18:00), plus sections you add yourself.

What happens when the trial ends?

Your records are not deleted after the trial. The app stays locked until you choose a subscription or the lifetime license, and you can download your records as CSV right from that screen.
